The term Kapalbhati consists of Kapal - which means head - and bhati - which means light. The purpose of this pranayama is to illuminate or provide light to the frontal area of the brain. Here, by illuminating we mean to purify. In my opinion, it stimulates the centre of the head, the forehead which is often considered to be the area of the 'third eye'. Kapalbhati practice is said to stimulate this very region.
This part of the brain usually harbours cough and phlegm, practising Kapalbhati helps relieve this by producing heat and purifying the region.
Note that from the starting point of the nostrils to the place of inoculation, it activates the prana circulatory centre of both the nostrils. Due to this, many ailments can be avoided. All those diseases can also be avoided wherein the mind and body have a habit of ingesting phlegm inside.
Due to the predominance of excessive Kapha, some people are able to reduce the circulation of Prana through the nostrils, due to which the balance of heat and heat in the body gets disturbed. Especially the presence of heat and light in and around the senses is very important. If this heat is less than the requirement, then it starts having different side effects not only on the brain but also on the major organs in the body. That is why the emphasis was placed on the practice of Kapalbhati for detoxification in the science of Hatha Yoga.
As far as its practice is concerned, this pranayama is practised from the stomach, in this, while exhaling the breath in a small amount, the stomach is slightly deflated inside. And by taking the breath in normally, the stomach is brought back to its normal state. It means that while exhaling with a jerk, the stomach is to be deflated and while breathing in at a normal pace, the stomach has to be normalized.
In this action, effort and jerk are used to exhale and no effort is made to take the breath in. Through this process, heat is made to increase in the senses as well as in many parts of the body, thereby purifying the area around the senses.
This technique is similar to the action of sneezing. In case of severe cold, the body's immunity starts the process of sneezing, so that the amount of phlegm and phlegm that accumulates in the sinus area inside the body can be removed. The excessive accumulation of phlegm is removed through this practice, only then there is a lightness in the person's senses, especially around the eyes and nostrils.
It is very important to note here that the lack of heat in the eyes and nostrils increases the chances of many diseases coming to the brain.
Things to Remember
This practice is most beneficial for those people who have some such problems in the nasal region and are not able to balance the heat in the body through the circulation of prana.
When the breath is exhaled in the inner region of the nostrils, heat is produced and due to this, the circulation prana in the brain increases.
Not only the problems related to the nose but also the problems related to the throat are solved.
It should be practised more by those people who have the habit of absorption. Especially those whose body absorbs more water than necessary in the sinus area itself. The mind of such people is generally more influenced by the Moon and they also have a habit of feeling too many emotions.
