Why Does Terrorism Breed ?

Why Does Terrorism Breed ?

In some of my previous blogs, I had talked about beliefs and how believers, when taking their beliefs too seriously, may become violent on the slightest criticism or opposition to their beliefs. This is how terrorism also takes shape. If anyone's beliefs culminate into violence it is certainly not worth it.

It is important to note the vividness and variety of this world and its people. There are different flowers - all in varying shapes, sizes, colours and even scents and that is what makes the world so beautiful. Similarly, there are different people, countries, sects, religions and traditions and it is what makes humanity so beautiful. Imagine eating the same food daily, or wearing the same clothes. Beauty is in variety and no one should force their beliefs onto someone.

Knowing the almighty is not in believing. On getting to know the almighty, one becomes calmer, acceptance and tolerance seep in.

On experiencing the supremacy of his God, a person becomes stable. Then he would go about praising his experience. Putting their experiences in front of the public in different ways, like Kabir, Meera, and Surdas did.

Note, that where there is no experience, just memorizing that he is great, and at the same time forcing others to memorize that he is great then if no one believes his words, violence is born and terrorism thrives. It eliminates itself and at the same time promotes terrorism in society.

The most lack of self-satisfaction is seen in the person who is memorising. At the same time, the communities and society that believe in memorization have the most mental dissatisfaction. It is impossible to stop violence in such people because the people of that community are dissatisfied with themselves. The only means of their self-satisfaction is memorization. That is repetition. This causes the greatest plight of the human mind.

Belief in words destroys more than necessary, that is why Gautam Buddha did not even consider the word as proof. He said don't believe anyone, just come inside yourself and experience that ultimate truth, and accept it.

If the almighty is great, then why is it necessary to kill others or oppress others in the name of God? Why are people oppressed and tortured into accepting certain beliefs and punished if done otherwise? Human free will is the biggest truth of all. All humans are free to choose what best suits them and live accordingly, yet, people in certain communities are punished, even ostracised for failing to conform to certain standards, such as women not wearing a certain type of clothing, et cetera.

Ideological freedom is so high in some civilizations that the feeling of violence is not born in the masses due to their subtlety. If seen in Indian civilization, it is known that there are thousands of sects in one religion, such as Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, Sikh, etc. Ideological differences are based on experience. There are some classes which insist on not eating meat but there are some in the same religion who are allowed to eat meat. The same religion was allowed to follow many ideological traditions and their mental and spiritual upliftment changed their behaviour. When a person moves towards knowledge, he is advised to eat sattvic food. That is because the same behaviour is appropriate in his path.

In these religions, you will find groups that are even atheists. Some Indian philosophers did not believe in God, yet people name their children after them as they are considered virtuous in society.

Where civilizations were born, the emphasis was on pragmatism and not on victory and defeat, win or loss. No matter how powerful and wise Ravana was but no Indian considers him a role model. Even his younger brother Vibhishan is not well regarded because he did not support his elder brother.

The more depth is there in your thoughts, the farther one gets from violence. This is because there are endless perspectives in the process of contemplation about any subject, then it moves towards the subtlest parts and acquires knowledge. Keep in mind that it is natural for self-dissatisfaction to flourish when the same approach to knowing any subject is considered and the other is rejected. And the more self-dissatisfaction there is, the more violence there will be.
