Who Am I ? & Where Do I Live?

There is no map for 'I' to be found. The more one searches, the larger the map grows and the effort to find it also increases. The process of searching grows but there is no finding. Rather than asking where, it is necessary to know who it is. A common person says that if their place of residence is known, then knowledge about them will also be known. However, this can only be done by someone who can transcend the physical realm and has no idea beyond what they can see. They also want to see the unmanifest in a manifest form. Their means of understanding is only through sight and imagination. Therefore, they search for a place to find that "I". Otherwise, they try to understand it.

It should be noted that the "I" is not absent; it exists in full form. Efforts are being made to find it based on its existence. The day knowledge is gained that it is the same as the Ocean of Milk, the search for where "I" live will end. The importance of this search will end. Therefore, self-knowledge is essential, experience is necessary, but an ordinary person wants to see it only with their eyes. They feel that it is surrounded by some place. The truth is that it is beyond time and space.

The truth is that 'I' is the cooperation of the senses and mind.

मैं कौन हूँ ? और कहाँ रहता हूँ ?

‘मैं’ का कोई मानचित्र नहीं है कि उसे ढूँढ़ा जा सके । जितना ढूँढते जाते हैं उतना ही मानचित्र का आकार बढ़ता जाता है और उसको खोजने का प्रयत्न भी बढ़ता जाता है । ढूँढने की प्रक्रिया बढ़ती जाती है, किंतु मिलता कहीं नहीं । बजाय कि कहाँ हैं ?  ये जानना आवश्यक है कि वह कौन है । सामान्य व्यक्ति कहता है कि यदि उसका उसके रहने का स्थान ज्ञात हो जाए तो उसके बारे में ज्ञान हो जाएगा । सात यह है कि ये बात इंद्रिय गामी ही कर सकता है , वह जिसे दृश्य स्थान के अतिरिक्त और कुछ पता ही नहीं । वह अव्यक्त को भी व्यक्त रूप में देखना चाहता है । उसके समझने का साधन सिर्फ़ दृश्य व कल्पना है , सम्भवतः इसीलिए वह उस “मैं” को पाने के लिए स्थान ढूँढता हैं । अन्यथा वह समझने का प्रयास करता । 

ध्यान दें वह ग़ायब नहीं है, वह तो पूर्ण अस्तित्व में है , उसी के अस्तित्व की बदौलत उसे ही ढूँढने का प्रयत्न किया जा रहा । जिस दिन यह ज्ञान हो गया कि वह वही जो दूधसागर है , ‘मैं’ कहाँ रहता हूँ की खोज समाप्त हो जाएगी है । उस खोज का महत्व समाप्त हो जाएगा है  । इसीलिए स्वयं को ज्ञान सर्वाधिक आवश्यक है, अनुभव आवश्यक है किंतु एक सामान्य व्यक्ति उसे आँखों से ही देखना चाहता हैं, उसे ऐसे लगता है वही किसी स्थान को घेरे हुए होगा । सत्य तो यह है कि देश काल से परे है । 

सत्य यह है कि ‘मैं” इंद्रियों और मन का सहयोग लेकर तब तक भागता है जब तक कि उसे संतुष्टि न मिल जाए । पूर्ण संतुष्टि उसे तभी मिलती है जब वह स्वयं की इंद्रिय और मन को रोक कर स्वयं में विलीन हो जाता है । यही उसकी पूर्ण गति है ।
