These days more and more people are complaining of heat in their heads, especially after meals and on an empty stomach. Heat in the head on an empty stomach means the movement of acidity towards the head. In such a situation, not only does a person experience a burning sensation in the eyes but also feels irritable.
Those who feel heaviness in the head, eyes and sleepy after meals could be experiencing air pressure in the head. Mind you, this does not mean that air or gas is trapped inside the head, air pressure in the head means when an empty stomach gets filled with food, the air that was present in it previously begins to put pressure on the food pipe and subsequently on the head. This pressure stays till the time the air does not get released in the form of burps or wind. It is just another sign of acidity.
Tips to tackle the problem:
Be disciplined
You must be disciplined in life, in your routine. Sleep on a fixed time, and eat on a fixed time. Irregular sleep or meal pattern is the biggest contributor to the formation of acidity. Anxiety must also be moderated.
Activity after food
It is a good practice to go on a leisure walk after food, at least for 20 minutes. Chest-expanding pranayam after food is also a good practice.
Hydration
You must be well hydrated. Lack of hydration gives rise to a host of ailments, including acidity. Practising chest-expanding pranayama is also essential.
Bedtime
Make a bedtime ritual, put away the screen at least an hour before bedtime and just when you are about to sleep, do some pranayama, preferably chest-expanding, for 11 minutes.
