The Power of Experience

The Power of Experience: How Deep Roots Lead to Lasting Prosperity;

You can call experience the root of a tree and prosperity the height of the tree. In Indian culture, the tree with roots that extend deep into the ground, such as the banyan tree, is considered the best. This is a tree whose roots grow out of its branches and absorb water from the ground, making the tree strong for thousands of years. Similarly, there are some individuals who have such deep experiences that it is visible in all their senses. All their actions are rooted in their experiences. Their principles last for more years than the banyan tree. For example, Buddha, Mahavira, Shri Ram, Shri Krishna, Kabir, etc. Their experiences are so profound that their principles cannot be terminated.

Just as the depth of a tree's roots is indicated by the height of its branches, a person's actions are revealed by their experiences. Trees such as these not only satisfy the hunger of the stomach, but also calm the senses and mind. Such trees draw energy from the soil by their own means. However, the trees planted next to the road in the city do not have their source of life beneath the ground; they depend on municipal corporation's water. That is why the trees in the city are easily uprooted when there is a little wind, whereas the trees in villages do not get uprooted because their roots are so deep that they draw water from underground, and hold onto the ground. They pull minerals from deep within the earth and can provide a supply of many minerals just by sitting under their shade.

City trees serve only to showcase greenery. The deeper and more practical a person's experience, the more expansive they become. The depth of their eyes can also be seen, and a deep experience of life towards living beings can be seen in them.

Such people do not have to rely on books because their own experiences drive their mind. When faced with any circumstance, they confront it and do not run away. They have no predetermined path and choose their own path like animals. They do not make a road, but wherever they go, the road becomes clear.

A banyan tree never says, "Come sit under me." And if the mind has been soaked with books, then understand that there is some confusion. The biggest tool for the development of the mind is its experience, and experience can only be possible in the present moment.
