The Philosophy Of Dharan

The Philosophy Navel and Dharan Center

The literal meaning of “Dharan” is binding, energy center, or the sun. In traditional homes, a thick wooden beam used to support the roof was called “dharan,” “dharan,” or “dhanni.” Its core meaning refers to the place in the body that holds and supports the entire structure of the body; it is known as “Dharan” or “Navel.” This is the central point of the body, which is the source of gravity and is referred to as the “Navel” or “Dharan” center.

The Importance of the Navel Before Birth

Before birth, the mother nourishes the child through this place (the umbilical cord). After birth, when the connection between the mother and child is severed, a subtle gravitational force begins its work. This center subtly controls the body’s functions. However, modern science does not visibly recognize anything of this sort. Scientists believe that if this area is surgically removed, it does not significantly impact the body’s health.

From one perspective, this statement may be true, but practical experiences show that this center profoundly influences the body and mind. When this point weakens, not only is the digestive system affected, but symptoms of body degeneration also begin to appear. Mentally, the person starts becoming weak because most of the energy flows to the liver from this center.

The Liver and Navel Center

The energy transferred through the umbilical cord in the womb first reaches the liver. The liver plays the most significant role in the body’s growth. After birth, digestion begins through the mouth, but the importance of the navel center does not diminish.

From a subtle perspective, even after the umbilical cord is cut, the navel remains a vital center and continues to be an indirect energy source. Pressure and strain in this area can impact the digestive and excretory systems. Proper activation of this center can even help resolve issues like fatty liver.

Causes of Navel Displacement

1. External Causes

  • Lifting heavy weights or imbalance while moving feet up or down.
  • Overeating or consistently consuming poor-quality food leading to constipation and indigestion, which disturbs the balance of the navel center.
  • People who habitually overeat often experience tension in the upper diaphragm area, which stresses the navel center.
  • Individuals in professions requiring them to strain abdominal muscles, such as athletes or film performers, tend to habitually pull their stomachs inward. This prolonged habit can negatively impact the navel region.

2. Internal Causes

  • Mental stress.
  • People with a contemplative or worrisome nature unconsciously pull in their upper abdominal area. During focused thinking, sensory organs experience tension, and unawareness of this results in permanent strain in the abdominal muscles. As a result, the navel and Dharan region remain in constant tension.
  • This habit, developed due to brain conditioning, unknowingly makes the entire abdominal region tense, leading to navel-related issues.

People often question why they experience these problems when they believe they are not putting stress on their stomach. However, unknowingly, they are causing tension due to their thought patterns, which habitually pull the stomach inward.

Symptoms

• Abdominal pain or heaviness

•Loss of appetite

•Constipation or diarrhea

•Mental fatigue and weakness

•Pain or pricking sensation in the navel region

•Fatty liver

•Heaviness in the chest or head

•Burping without odor

•Heaviness in the eyes and forehead

Solutions and Yogic Treatment

Yoga is the most effective remedy for navel and Dharan-related problems. The following practices are beneficial:

Yogasanas

Madhya Nadi Shuddhi Practice, Supta Vajrasana, Bhujangasana, Shalabhasana, Dhanurasana, Pawanmuktasana

Note: These practices should be done under the supervision of an experienced guru.

Pranayama; Nadi Shodhana Pranayama, Turtle Pranayama

External Remedies

Waist massage (abdominal massage is not recommended), Consumption of Hing, Ajwain, and Triphala (under expert guidance)

It is essential to note that the Dharan and Navel centers are extremely important parts of the body. They influence not only physical but also mental health. Through regular practice of yoga and pranayama, it is possible to resolve problems related to this center.
