Renunciate Person's Qualities Bring Inner Peace

"Renunciate Person's Qualities Bring Inner Peace, Says Yogi Anoop"

Yogi Anoop: Today, we'll talk about the importance of a renunciate person as a support for meditation. By focusing on the qualities of a renunciate person, we can calm our minds and find inner peace. The text says, "O Vats, consider only the one who has become free from all qualities, who has ended attachment and aversion, who has ended differentiation in self and others, as dispassionate." What does this mean to you?

Student: It means that we should only focus on a person who has achieved a level of detachment from worldly concerns. This person can inspire us to find inner peace and calmness in our own lives.

Yogi Anoop: Exactly. When we bring great renunciate men to mind and contemplate their qualities repeatedly, our mind becomes peaceful. This is because when we repeatedly focus on positive qualities, those sattvic qualities settle in the mind, and the mind and senses become peaceful.

Student: So, it's important to contemplate their qualities, not just their images, right?

Yogi Anoop: That's a great point. It's important to understand that simply focusing on an image or idol without contemplating the qualities and actions of the person it represents will not have the same effect on the mind as contemplating their qualities with faith.

Let me give you an example to illustrate this point. Imagine you have an image of Lord Rama, and you simply focus on the image without contemplating his qualities or actions. In this case, the mind who has produced an image, is unable to extract peace through that image or inspire you to find inner calmness. However, if you contemplate the qualities and actions of Lord Rama with faith, such as his compassion, courage, and sense of duty, then those qualities will grow within you, and you will become more like him in terms of your own behaviour.

This is also true for radical religious people who focus on the qualities and actions of their prophets or religious figures. By contemplating their qualities and actions, they internalize those qualities and strive to behave like them.

By the way this can be a positive thing if it inspires them to act with kindness, compassion, and love towards others.

In summary, it's essential to focus on the qualities and actions of the person you are contemplating, rather than just their image or idol. By internalizing these qualities, they can become a part of you and help you find inner peace and calmness.

Student: That's fascinating. Is there any scientific basis for this?

Yogi Anoop: Yes, there is. Repeatedly focusing on positive thoughts and behaviors can have a positive impact on the mind and lead to a more peaceful state of being.

Student: I see. But how do we find true inspiration for meditation and inner peace?

Yogi Anoop: It's not easy, but we should see a person with good conduct as our teacher. A teacher is an inspirer, who inspires us to attain our goals. By surrounding ourselves with positive influences and seeking out teachers or inspirers with good conduct, we can find true inspiration for meditation and inner peace.
