Mind-Brain Learning

Mind-Brain Learning: Yogic Insights on Growth and Balance;

 The human experience is most pronounced when the mind navigates through situations that are either of moderate challenge or where problems are relatively minimal. In my personal observations, when the body, mind, and societal pressures escalate to high levels, the prospect of managing them can trigger anxiety. This stems from the fact that such intense situations were uncommon in the past, leading to an avoidance response.

In the context of practicing yoga postures, I've found that maintaining a low level of physical tension during the exercises and prolonging that tension over time can greatly enrich the mind's acquisition of knowledge and experiences. This is because the tension applied to the body is of a milder nature, making it easier to engage with. The mind has the potential to deeply perceive this subtle tension within the brain. However, during these postures, if the sensation of pain is heightened significantly, the mind tends to shift its focus towards evading the acute discomfort rather than embracing it. Consequently, such activities do not effectively amplify the sensation of energy.

Typically, we label pain as negative, yet this type of discomfort is not a result of bodily ailments. Instead, it is deliberately induced by the body's master, serving as a remedy for pain itself. This strategic introduction of discomfort awakens all dormant cells, initiating a state of heightened awareness.

Similarly, both positive and negative thoughts coexist within the human mind as inherent attributes. They constitute the fundamental essence of the mind's nature. The presence of both these elements is essential for life to unfold. It is important to note that social interactions frequently require confronting and managing negative circumstances. These challenging situations bring forth latent negative thoughts, which in turn contribute to strengthening positive ideations.

In the realm of behaviour, the steadfastness of positive thoughts directly correlates with their impact on one's actions. This interplay cultivates resilience within the mind and the brain's cognitive processes, empowering individuals to engage in meaningful internal battles. As a result, I emphasise the importance of facing circumstances head-on, whether they manifest within the body, the mind's recesses, or within the broader societal context. It is crucial to engage in these confrontations while adhering to a pragmatic and realistic approach.
