The need to masturbate or have sex before sleeping


It is a given that the brain and the body inherently try to ease out and relax before sleeping in the night. Unfortunately, due to our flawed lifestyle and stress, the body and the mind do not find it easy to relax and remain overactive. As a result, a person drifts off to imagination and fantasies. 


In most cases, youngsters begin by fantasising about the opposite sex. In some cases, the brain and the body can relax just by thinking of a good memory or fantasising about something positive and the person is able to drift off to sleep. However, in the case of sexual fantasies, a person gets more charged up and the resolution - masturbation or the sexual act - releases the pent up tension, relaxes the body, the mind and the nerves.  


A youngster is more prone to this as in the prime of youth, sensual and sensory development is at its peak. Mental exertion (emphasis on enhancing memory) is also in full swing, emphasis is also on enhancing visual and word memory, due to which there is also an effect on the brain and the sexual senses. All this is bound to create turmoil in the mind.


By nightfall, instead of pacifying and loosening the mind and senses, a youngster would excite it to the extreme, while from the spiritual perspective, the same is raised in the morning by loosening the senses at night so that work on memory and intellect can resume on a fresh note the following day.


Before sleeping there is so much intensity in the mind and senses that the only way left to relax them is ejaculation and many find solace in masturbation. However, the quest for this satisfaction is not limited to masturbation or indulging in a sexual act, a person tries other mediums too such as: 


Alcohol consumption

  • Excessive non-veg consumption
  • Excessive sugar, fat consumption
  • Increased screen time
  • When a person is not able to get peace and all the above-mentioned methods are not helpful in falling asleep, the only way out is ejaculation.

Ways to tackle

  • Try becoming an early bird instead of burning the midnight oil

  • Don't eat a lot at night. Have an early dinner.

  • Practise pranayama and meditation before sleeping

  • Learn the technique of loosening your muscles in bed before sleeping. Yoga nidra is an excellent option. 

  • Listen to calm music before sleeping

  • Take a hot shower before bed

There is a lot of imagination in the nature of those who masturbate. Due to the high flight of the mind at night, the mind becomes calm. In such a state, a person should meditate by focusing on the sky.
