Is Brisk Walk Harmful ?

How Taking a Leisure Walk Can be Beneficial For You

In my opinion, if you want to maximise health benefits and also ensure calmness of mind, be mindful of every act that you do. When you are mindful, it leads to great focus on the action, when you are focused the activity done reaps the maximum benefit.

Let us use an analogy, what do you do when you are asked to put a thread in a needle, are you swift or calm and focussed? Mind you, I am not saying that vigorous activities are bad, all I am saying is, besides sprinting and brisk walking, sometimes, also get into the habit of taking a leisure walk, be mindful of the environment around, notice nature, soak it in and give your body a chance to feel one with nature - no rush, no hurry!

Keep this in mind, when you are hyperactive, your brain is also in such a mode, if you want to calm the brain down, you must engage in calming, relaxing activities. Is there room for an accident if a driver of a car is driving at medium speed and with a calm mind? The chances are more when he is speeding or in a hurry, right? Don't we all feel agitated when we are in a hurry and end up hitting the curb?

I can walk for kilometres on a go and it has a cooling, calming impact on me, that is because I do not walk speedily, I take it easy, I do my pranayama and other activities for agility and body strengthening.

If you operate your body in a hyper manner, soon, it will turn you into a hyperactive person, therefore, a balance must be achieved, run a marathon if you like but also sit down for 10-15 minutes and calm your mind by doing meditation. During this pandemic, I used to walk within my house for up to 12 kilometres, every single day, and I never felt tired. When you walk slowly, for leisure, your brain and the body get in sync with each other and feel at peace, this leads to the secretion of happy hormones. When I walk, I feel at peace, I am still internally, just the body is moving.

One thing that you would notice, the more you walk calmly, your breath and heart rate also get calm and run in a rhythm, the body can regulate sugar in the blood more efficiently, upward wind or burps, issues of acid reflux and acidity can also be tackled.

Any physical action or action of yours in which the mind and the body are completely relaxed increases the level of your self-satisfaction, as a result, there is a balance of Vata and Pitta in the body.

The benefits of walking at night ,

Every day at night, after dinner, I walk for at least 30-40 minutes, then I read and write a bit after which I turn in and while lying on my bed, I practice pranayama for 20-30 minutes before dozing off.

I have observed many benefits of a long walk at night. Generally, I have seen that after a long walk of 15 kilometres when I check my resting heart rate after a while, I see it range between 55-60 beats per minute. I don't walk in the morning but when my body is tired, at the end of the day, this calm, leisure walk revs me up again. You should also give it a try - slowly, calmly, peacefully.
