Do not think that we will stop in life when we have achieved things. Rather, we achieve things when we pause. Our mind is fickle, and our five senses always want to get things. When the mind, instead of being able to control it on different subjects from the five directions, starts falling into its own trap, then it has no option but to turn fickle.
Perhaps that is why the mind always tries to escape, it is always jittery. Continuous incoming of objects from those five senses becomes troublesome for the mind. It keeps getting entangled in the same subjects. The problem is that to avoid it, it takes the help of another subject and other self-made fantasies, but the truth is that they all become the cause of some other confusion.
Mostly, it has been seen that the mind gives birth to those principles which are more ideological and imaginative, it spreads the web of fantasies but in future, it puts itself in trouble, it gets entangled in the same web.
Look at any religious book in the world, it has the most talk of fantasies and imagination. They are full of imaginary and inexplicable facts, full of such facts and evidence wherein by doing less work, the result is obtained according to the maximum desire. Truth is that the mind tries to achieve the infinite and goes to a great extent to achieve the same. However, thoughts give rise to thoughts and it is never possible to get away from thoughts by getting entangled in more thoughts. Can we get away from numbers if we keep counting?
Great seers and sages understood that thoughts can never be the channel through which one can achieve the infinite. That is why they came up with 'shunya' or zero. No matter how much we try, there is no going beyond our thoughts. Therefore, it is important to stop, pause and observe. There is gain in trying to always keep running and chasing things. If you want to grab something, you must stop. Pausing is important to get calm, centred. As soon as you pause, you will begin experiencing centeredness.
Remember, thoughts give rise to sleeplessness. Therefore, in order to go to sleep, one does not have to feel like Alexander, to go to sleep, one must be able to leave everything, give up everything.
To stop the chain of thoughts, all these senses have to be let loose, all the windows of the senses have to be closed, imaginations have to be stopped, thought has to be halted.
How can you relax the mind and soul without pausing? Thoughts cannot leave the body and the senses until the mind is relaxed until the chatter does not stop. And as long as there is the will, there is thought, the mind cannot be empty. And as long as the mind is not empty, one cannot leave the body and go into a deep sleep.
Until you learn to quit, you will not be able to stop, and until you do not stop, you will not be able to achieve anything.
