After fatigue, it is recommended to avoid food, otherwise there may be gastric problems.
A principle of yoga is that whenever the body and mind are tired, one should not eat at that time. Any kind of food, whether it is sattvic, rajasic, or tamasic, should be avoided during fatigue because it cannot be digested properly. Sattvic people tend to eat a lot of sweets such as rasgulla and chocolate during fatigue, while rajasic and tamasic people tend to consume alcohol heavily during this time.
People with a rajasic nature consume alcohol, drugs, and non-vegetarian food in large quantities after fatigue. Similarly, people with a tamasic nature also consume substances such as alcohol, drugs, etc., but they overdo it to the point where they forget their goals. However, no matter how much alcohol or similar substances a person with a rajasic nature consumes, they do not forget their goals.
In all of these situations, the agitation of air inside a person increases. In my own experience, if a sweet is consumed after mental fatigue, it proves to be the most dangerous. It is natural to take sweets after physical fatigue, and it does not cause harm. I consider my father as an example of this. My father used to consume all kinds of sweets, but he did not have mental stress. That is why the fasting level of sugar in his body never went above 80.
In my experience, during times of fatigue, the consumption of all types of food leads to poor digestion and liver function, resulting in severe gas. Therefore, it is not advisable to eat during times of fatigue. Ten years ago, I experimented with this issue seriously, where I would exhaust myself physically and mentally throughout the day, and then immediately eat a meal. I did this for almost a month, and the result was that my gastric level increased significantly. After that, I practiced relaxation and certain pranayama exercises to absorb the prana, which helped calm my mind and bring about mental clarity. After that, I experienced a 50-60% reduction in gastric discomfort.
When the mind and body are very tired, the brain needs two elements the most - sugar and fat, and sleep. Only after taking sugar and fat, deep sleep comes. Most people consume cold drinks, alcohol, meat, etc. at night, which further exacerbates gastric issues, and this is why instead of good sleep, sleep gets disturbed. So, the bottom line is that gas increases more when food is taken during tiredness, and even in food, such food which aggravates the liver, irritates it.
In my experience, the liver's digestion is most active when the brain is in a relaxed state. When the fatigue of the mind and brain is slightly reduced, the liver maintains the ability to function properly.
That's why whenever you feel tired in your body and mind, instead of immediately eating something, do a little bit of pranayama for just 5 to 7 minutes. There is no need to do it for an hour. This will give rest to your mind and brain, and then your liver will also become calm. After that, you can eat your meal, and there won't be any gas formation.
Now the biggest problem is which pranayama to do because apart from kapalbhati, agnisar nauli, anulom-vilom, etc., people do not know much about pranayama. So I want to tell you that even if you just do deep breathing for 7 minutes, everything will be fine.
