Do You Believe Or Do You Know?

Do You Believe Or Do You Know?

In today's world, we see a lot of people say, "I believe in this or that". However, believing is not knowing. A person can say, "I believe yoga can cure colitis", but does he have first-hand experience of it to back his claim? Does he know it for sure?

In my opinion, the more a person believes, the more possibility of knowing something gets slashed. About 99 percent of people believe in something or the other without knowing what they claim to believe in. So many people believe in God, but has anyone seen God? So many of us believe in an afterlife but have we ever seen that world? Practical application of beliefs is not always possible in life.

While doing any work, the mind has to be focused on it, this process increases experience and knowledge. But if while doing an action you do not take the mind into that action and put some other supposed imaginary things in between, then it means that the mind is absent in the present.

The biggest problem is that we do not give attention to what is around us, the sense of action, but what is away from us. We pin so much effort and energy on stuff of the past or future. We are not focussed on the here and now, on our breath, in this moment.

But the process of knowing and understanding is never told to us. We are taught to neglect the means, such as:

"Woman is the gate of hell"

"Woman is the cause of bondage"

Quite naturally, when you continue to consider women as the gate of hell all day long, then even in dreams what will visit you is the imagination of women and the mind will create all possible evil designs against women.

Succinctly put, there is no need to state the obvious. Do we say that each and every grain of sugar has sweetness in it? No, it is obvious. Similarly, why state the fact that "God is everywhere". People just believe it but how many of us have felt it? Once we begin to pay attention to the present moment, we will begin to experience it too.

In spirituality, when we begin to understand our means and begin to experience, then we begin to know the supreme power, the Almighty. This will lead to salvation, ultimate peace. This will remove all illusions.
