Controlling The Mind Is Difficult While Moving It Is Easy

"The Challenge of Stopping Thoughts: Is it Easy or Difficult?"

In the early stages or for a short while, you can say that it is a bit difficult to speed up your mind during childhood because at that time the senses and mind are not developed much. At that time, the senses and mind are attracted towards the external world. The child is learning words and playing with emotions.

However, after 5 to 7 years, the senses and brain become so accustomed to thoughts that they keep the mind trapped in thoughts even if one does not want it. If a child is told to stop thinking, he/she cannot do it because he/she does not have the knowledge of how to stop the thought. Because the child has learned to remain joyful in thoughts and words.

As children slowly approach the age of 20, their ability to perceive and process thoughts becomes much stronger. Due to this intensity, the senses and brain become hyperactive. Note that when the senses and brain become excessively active and habitual, problems become more serious. In this state, the brain begins to function habitually, even if the mind does not desire it, which leads to the thought process being initiated on its own. For example, most mood swing-related problems are caused by this. Even drug addicts suffer from this problem.

After the age of 30 to 35, the situation is such that as soon as a person wakes up in the morning, their mind starts racing. The person does not think of controlling their thoughts; it starts running on its own due to habit. And if small incidents occur during the day, then imagine what the condition of the racing mind will be. The mind does not even care about the situation. The brain is so accustomed to unnecessary activities that it starts to make the mind and senses work.

That's why I always say that giving speed up of thought is straightforward and easy, but once this genie is out of the bottle, it is almost impossible to stop it. Taking the mind to a state of tranquility (thoughtless state) becomes almost impossible once it starts running like a wild horse.

If we study carefully, Indian sages have worked on this very topic. They have dedicated their lives to the search for the art of ending the thought. They believed that as the mind starts to slow down, thoughts become absent, and only then does each part of the body begin to heal on its own. If we want to develop ourselves, we must learn to stop the thought, to calm it down. This is the only source of ultimate satisfaction and peace which everyone’s inner sense unknowingly wanted.

For this, many practices need to be adopted. For example, there is a need to maintain constant contact with a spiritual teacher who is knowledgeable and very close to thoughtlessness. Discussions with the teacher about the mind and the senses are essential. Through this, knowledge of the mysteries of life is obtained, and a person can control themselves.

Meditation is a must. It helps in stopping the thought and imaginations by providing assistance. The practice of yoga and pranayama is also essential. Through this, the mind is made to enter the body, and experiences are induced. Through this, the mind begins to experience the body on its own and stops running away. Control is achieved over the nerves and veins of the senses and brain.
