Best Sleep Position

The scientific position of sleeping

Is there an ideal way to sleep? Any particular position which aids better sleep? Today we will learn what positions must be assigned to the mind and the body to facilitate a deeper state of rest for them.

First

In my opinion, the best way to sleep is on your back, straight as this position helps in healing the back portion of the brain and the spinal cord. This also helps in increasing the blood flow to the brain which aids in recovery and healing - physical, mental and spiritual. The back is the strongest portion in our body, so is the spinal cord and the backbone which is the source of all the energy, the entire nervous system depends on it, therefore healing it becomes extremely important.

One more thing which I have observed is that someone who suffers from disrupted sleep or related issues for a prolonged time begin to experience back problems, especially lower back. This signifies that the back needs healing. Sleep deprivation commonly leads to issues related to nerves and veins. Therefore, sleeping on your back helps recharge the backbone and the rear portion of the brain.

Secondly

Let's face it, it is not possible to sleep on your back all the time, therefore, the second-best position will be to your right. Sleeping on your right side is known to aid deep sleep and also promotes better circulation of blood and oxygen to the right side of the brain.

Sleeping on this side also activates the parasympathetic nervous system which calms the mind deeply and relaxes the brain and muscles.

How not to sleep

Never sleep on your stomach, one of the obvious reasons is that it hinders the digestive system. Also, almost all the important organs of the body are situated in the front - from the heart, stomach, lungs to the liver, et cetera. Therefore, sleeping on the stomach adds unnecessary pressure to these organs. This is also not a good position for deep sleep as it hinders proper breathing which may not let a person go into a deep state of rest.

Now, let me break your bubble! You must have heard that sleeping on your left side is good for digestion. However, I want to tell you that sleeping on your left size activates the sympathetic nervous system, which means breathing from your left nostril gets activated which increases heat in the body and activates thoughts. Meaning, that the body comes under the influence of the Sun and it is not ideal for a relaxing, deep sleep.

This position aids digestion but tell me who sleeps right after taking food? Traditionally, it was advised to lie down on your left after taking meals to facilitate digestion while one is also directed to have food at least 2-3 hours prior to sleeping.
