When one supports knowledge of dreams and deep sleep, the mind becomes steady. Here, the fundamental meaning of steadiness of mind is the absence of the wings of the mind, and the cessation of the dream-flight of the mind. In reality, the mind does not want any thought for some time. When there are no thoughts in the mind, at that time, all senses, body, and brain become loose and calm. This is the state of its healing. A person should develop this habit, but the mind keeps calling its habits of thoughts. The habit of experiencing pleasure and pain with thoughts becomes a habit since childhood. To stabilize the mind, it remains limited to bringing so-called good thoughts.
Therefore, the yogis have made deep sleep or "sushupti" the foundation. According to them, sushupti is a state without any activity, and this state can also be attained in the waking state. Just as in deep sleep, the body's entire system experiences maximum healing, similarly, if one attains a state without activity in the waking state, there can be significant healing. Hence, it is essential to rely on sushupti for complete rest. If a person can successfully make their mind inactive in the waking state, then they can witness remarkable changes in their behavior. The fundamental truth is that the health of the mind and its energy source comes from a state of thoughtlessness or "vritti-vihinata".
During the day, he feels unwell and appears to be upset with himself. Perhaps that's why his behavior towards others is also very wrong. The truth is that in the basic nature of the mind, there is both passivity and activity. For some time, it is naturally passive because that is its basic nature, and for some time it is active because its behavior depends on it. In the state of sleep and deep sleep, he gets ultimate peace. That is why yogis have emphasized making this state the basis. At the same time, sages considered deep sleep as the greatest tool of knowledge. If there was no sleep, it would probably not be possible to find meditation. Sages took the help of sleep and deep sleep the most to stabilize the mind. Just as a person is thoughtless in deep sleep, it was said to explain how to be thoughtless in the waking state.
Here, it is explained how one can attain the state of sleep as a form of meditation, where "avalamaban" means achieving the state of sleep in a waking state. In the state of sleep, the senses gradually become loose and calm, which leads the mind into a state of emptiness. In this state, since there is no kind of activity in the mind, all the limbs of the body become absorbed in their natural state. They all experience themselves independently because they do not receive any orders from the mind. Similarly, if the mind can be stabilized in a meditative state, then all the limbs of the body will experience themselves independently, and this will greatly enhance their healing.
Through their meditation practice, the practitioner can also loosen the senses in a waking state and learn to loosen them through breath as well. This was the advice given by yogis and Sages.
