Anxiety (Splitting Hairs)

    Note that the body and its parts do not like any interference for at least 7 hours, and this is called sleep. I say that even during the day, if there is minimal intervention on the body, the body will heal itself. It will neither need oil nor rolling in the mud. You won't need an enema to open the anus nor rely solely on vegetable juice to activate the intestines.

My experience says that the one experiencing within the body does not heal the body. Rather, when it is deeply satisfied with experiencing the body, it stops stressing the body and the body starts to heal itself.

I always say that one should understand their foolishness. If we minimize stress on this body, it will start to heal itself.

But the problem is that we start imagining and thinking about healing the body in our minds. I have always said that the more burden you put on the mind, whether positive or negative thoughts, it will not be possible for the body to heal.


One of my students took a program from me. In the entire program, which included symmetrical yoga and pranayama techniques, I advised eating an apple at the end. After yoga and pranayama, take an apple.

I put the responsibility on her to understand the program. Instead of trying to explain it to her, I tried to make her responsible for understanding it. My attempt was for her to try to understand the program, and if she couldn't, to ask me questions.

About 10 minutes later, I was surprised. Rather than asking any issue related to yoga postures and pranayama she asked about eating apple . she sent a WhatsApp message asking,


“How should I take that apple mentioned at the end? Should I peel it or eat it without peeling?”


Another message came - “If you say so, I can take it as juice. I have a cold press juicer.” Though she also let me know that she has this type of juicer.


Another message came - “If you say so, I can soak the apple in oil and take it! I have no objection to any method.”


Another message - “If you say so, I can make pickle out of it and eat it. Because I have that too. I have been very cautious about eating and drinking for many years.”


Finally, her message came - “If you say so, I can just take apple cider vinegar. Meaning she must have taken vinegar before.”


In the end, I replied,

“You don't need to take the apple anymore - now even if an apple goes inside, the apple can't do anything. Even a scientist like Newton wouldn't have studied an apple so much. Just leave it now.”


In the entire program, her focus was only on the apple. She didn’t even try to understand the entire yoga and meditation program. I knew she wouldn't be able to understand the program because it wasn't easy. I understood her nature through this. Her focus was solely on eating the apple, whether to peel it or not.


The mind is thinking so much about a subject that doesn't need thought. Where thought was needed (yoga-pranayama), we didn’t do it. The mind is concentrating on a subject, exhausting all its energies, where no knowledge can be gained.

Why are you making the mind and body so doubtful! Why are you intervening so much!

This is called anxiety. Such people call it perfection, but it is a sign of overthinking. I call it severe anxiety.

I just told you to eat the apple, but no, you have a habit of splitting hairs. Unnecessarily burdening the mind.


That's why I say to relax the body and senses. If you succeed in relaxing the body, whatever you eat, the body will digest it. After this, the body will heal itself. This is why I have always said, To understand this profound mystery, practice yoga nidra a lot. Meditate.
